What is a Patriot?
What is a Patriot?
You own a flag (or multiple flags).-When you walk into your apartment, chances are you are welcomed by waving stripes and shining stars hanging on your wall. There isn't a better decoration than this piece of history. You probably consider it your personal job to protect the stars and stripes as well. When people dare to mess with Old Glory, they'll have to answer directly to you. Ron Swanson would definitely approve.
You want the amendments protected (especially the second one).-Our founding fathers and our leaders put the amendments into place for a reason and every true patriot realizes that. Although, the second amendment is held very close to your heart.
You stand during the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.-Standing up during sacred songs that are related to the history of our country is a must. There's no other choice. If you happen to spot an ignorant individual who is sitting and disrespecting this time, they have no respect for this country.
You exercise the right to vote.-Voting is not a right but you see it as a duty to your country. The most appalling thing is when people tell you they don't vote. When asked why, they immediately follow up with a typical excuse you've heard over and over. They range from, "My vote doesn't matter" to "I don't know anything about the candidates."
You get goosebumps when the National Anthem is performed live.-The National Anthem is one of your favorite American traditions. Whenever you hear this beautiful piece of history, you can't help but be proud of our country and what it represents.
You've chanted "U.S.A" at some point.-This one's fairly self explanatory. Go, 'Merica.
You thank your service men and women for their time and sacrifice.-Citizens from every walk of life choose to serve our country in order that we all might be protected and have the rights that we do. They don't get paid nearly enough and are in harm's way each and every day. The least we can do is say, "Thank you."
Capitalism is the only way.-Socialism doesn't work. The USSR proved that. Sure, capitalism isn't the fair way but it's the way that has made us strong and given each person a chance to rise to a place better than where they were.
You boast in the fact that the US is back to back world war champs.-Who helped win both world wars? Oh, yeah. That was us. The debate will forever continue of when and who we should help but our past track record is a pretty good one. We stand by what we believe in and follow it through to protect liberty and justice.
The Fourth of July is your favorite holiday.-Nothing says celebration like summer, fireworks, cookouts and the Fourth of July. We patriots love to celebrate the birth of our nation. If it wasn't for that day we'd be eating fish and chips.
